A little over 2 years ago, after being fired from her job as a restaurant hostess, Kali Hawk decided to take destiny into her own hands. Literally.

She bought a guitar with her rent money and taught herself to play by watching peoples hands on MTV. Within 3 months she was playing shows around Manhattan and building her current fan base, which is now estimated to be in the high thousands. She recorded a demo of a few songs and later uploaded the music to some online music sites. Shortly thereafter she was receiving up to 2500 hits a day to her web page and entered the internet music charts, going as high as #1 on the College/Indie and Rock charts. This garnered attention from some television networks looking for music like AMC and FUSE. Around this time her music caught the attention of a young director named Emery Wells, who offered to shoot a music video for the song 'Pintak'. A few short months later the video began running on Taxi TV, making Kali Hawk the first artist ever to debut a music video in a cab. It ran for a total of 3 months in heavy rotation, playing every 15 minutes in all 1000 cabs throughout Manhattan. Meanwhile, online fans were desperate to buy the music they had been downloading for free, so she put together a cd for release. Quickly selling out of her first 1000 copies, she ordered a second pressing, and began selling online through www.TowerRecords.com

Now, with a video set to air, Kali Hawk is a glittering example of Girl Power on the rise.
